Beauty tools are my kryptonite. Any time I get word of a cool new device, be it for your hair, face, or body, I can't wait to test it out. My medicine cabinet is filled with facial massagers and microcurrent gadgets, you can find me lying in bed using an LED face mask at least once a week, and my basket of hair tools runneth over. You get the idea — I'm obsessed. So when I came across the Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool ($149), I couldn't wait to get my hands on it.

The at-home microdermabrasion tool promises smooth skin, banishing dullness, discoloration, and dry patches. For anyone unfamiliar, microdermabrasion is a form of physical exfoliation that removes the outermost layers of the skin. This helps promote new cell growth. The treatment is commonly done by an aesthetician or dermatologist, but some devices make it possible to do a gentler variation at home, like this one.

Keep reading for my full review of the Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool, including whether it's worth the splurge.

Body exfoliation is highly underrated. I think you should tend to it the same as you do the skin on your face. Using the Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool makes for a great self-care moment. After stepping out of the shower, it takes only minutes to use on freshly cleansed skin. You can feel the diamond-coated surface gently exfoliating your skin, but it's not uncomfortable or the least bit painful. If anything, it leaves you with a subtle tingly sensation afterward, which I believe is due to a boost in blood circulation — similar to when you use an exfoliating mitt in the shower.

I have pretty small hands, but the rounded shape allowed it to fit in my palm easily, and the handle that sits between your pointer and middle fingers keeps it secure. Immediately after using it, there's a noticeable difference in the feel of my skin. It's much softer to the touch, and any bumps that were there are smooth.

I keep the Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool in my bathroom so it's readily available to use after I shower, but occasionally, I find myself using it in bed. I rub it over my entire body in circular motions, focusing primarily on my legs, arms, butt, and stomach. (I use retinol on my chest, so I forgo that area.) I love that it only takes a few minutes, so it's not much of a time suck. Afterward, I follow up with a hydrating body lotion.

I won't lie: I'm not a huge fan of microdermabrasion on my face, because I fear that it's too rough for my sensitive skin. But when it comes to my body, almost anything goes. The skin on your body is thicker and therefore can often handle a little more. That said, you know your skin better than anyone else.

Though the brand says the body tool is safe for all skin types, I wouldn't recommend using it if you have eczema without first consulting with a doctor. Also, if your skin is very sensitive, consider doing a patch test first.

The Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool is priced at $149, making it a bit of a splurge. I won't lie and say you absolutely need this product to have smooth skin, but I see it as a treat. If you want to up your self-care routine and invest in a new body tool to switch things up, this one is great because it'll last for years. If you use it regularly, even just once a week, the cost can be justified.

The Luxene Beauty Firmaglow Diamond Body Tool is available on the brand's website and Amazon.
